Looking back, Monk Eicheon, the State Preceptor Daegak and founder in the Goryeo Dynasty, went up to Tiantai Mt. and made great profession of being a Buddhist in front of the pagoda of Priest Zhiyi, the founder of Chinese Tiantai Buddhism when he studied in the Song Dynasty and rebuilt this order after returning to his own country.
As the founder tightened discipline of degenerated Zen Buddhism and reformed the corrupt religious world as the highest order of 「HoiSamGquiIl」, he increased the value of the Buddhism restoration and controlled and led the entire religious world.
However, this order was combined with Zen Buddhism and the excellent methods disappeared due to the policy to control Buddhism in the early Joseon Dynasty. Nevertheless, it is time that the teachings of Buddha is again spread in this land according to the connection of the actual excellent methods of immortality and indestructibility.
Therefore, we will promise to make a contribution to rebuilding our country and the national restoration by finding sacred moral culture buried in dust and dirt of history for a long time, aim at the popularization and habituation of Buddhism as the highest order of clarifying measures and revealing the truth by rebuilding Chontae Order of Korean Buddhism, and announce this charter of a sect by enacting it.
Believers and the public will enhance mercy, wisdom, and hope of Buddha all over the world and make a contribution to creating the eternal peaceful world and building the earthly paradise by devoting themselves to the perfection of self and making a contribution to social purification by obeying this Charter.
